Innerspace Systems Megalodon mixed gas CCR

home

Leon Scamahorn begins his Show and Tell on his Meg.  The unit is about the same diameter as an aluminum 80 scuba tank and a few inches shorter.  The unit is a fully closed mixed gas CCR that is electronically controlled.  It has 3 oxygen sensors and uses voting logic to compare sensors.  It comes with 2 independent computers.  The counter lungs are split, over the shoulder and the exhale CL acts as a water trap and has a exhaust OPV that works as a trapped water drain also.  CL pics later.

Leon uses Tiger Gear mounts for his tanks (I believe that this unit is actually Steve Stollen’s)  The head of the unit is held on by four SS buckles spaced around the unit.

The head removes easily to reveal the electronics and battery housings.  The computers each have their own separate battery compartments.

This is the top of the sensor head, the o ring isolates the breathing loop from the electronics package.

The standard scrubber canister.

The Meg can also be used with the Cis-lunar scrubber canister, designed by Bill Stone.  The black part to the right of the taller canister is the base for the scrubber, it sets down in the bottom of the unit and has a water absorbent pad in it.

Here you can see the 02 injection solenoid and its plumbing, as well as the two computers.

The two computers each display the outputs from the 3 sensors and are menu driven.

The split, over the shoulder counterlungs, notice the OPV on the bottom of the exhale CL.  Automatic diluent add valve is an option.
